Moving companies simply are not what they used to be. Where movers used to take pride in their work, packing boxes with care, and driving in a responsible manner, they now overstuff and under pad boxes, drive recklessly, and generally do not care about the individuals who hired them. Many moving companies have simply decided that the dollar is worth more than the customer is, and have completely forgotten the customer is the one who ultimately provides that dollar.
Until recently, the only real alternative to hiring a moving company has been to buy boxes, rent a large truck, and move everything with the help of friends and family. Unfortunately, where this saves on dealing with unscrupulous characters and exceptionally high prices, renters are stuck attempting to drive an oversized vehicle through dangerous situations (especially when going over stateliness), and hidden fees. In fact, the advertised price is almost never the real price for renting a truck once gas prices, cost for mileage, additional charges for using covers and dollies, and the massive late fees have been included.
At a time where stress and fatigue tend to be their highest, nobody wants to deal with a poor work ethic, or rushing to unpack and return a truck before the deadline is up. Even after the move has been completed and all is said and done, it is no joy to have to fight against unknown hidden charges, or to attempt to receive compensation for broken family heirlooms. Simply put, the process of moving has gone from being a simple headache to a complete and utter nightmare.
However, while many moving companies have taken a huge turn for the worse, there is an intriguing new option becoming available. By utilizing storage containers, the U-Pack moving system allows movers to pack their own boxes and moving trailer, seal the container, and then unload it at their leisure at their new home.
A few things of note, at no time does the mover have to drive the container anywhere as it is dropped off and picked up at both addresses by the U-Pack drivers, and there is no extreme rush to unload at the end of the trip as U-Pack offers three business days before they return for the container. Equally important is the cost savings; without having to hire movers, there is no payment for people who only seem to be there to mangle and break the belongings, and without renting a truck, there is no need to worry about hidden fees, like paying for gas or mileage.
The U-Pack system is very straightforward: purchase the moving boxes, reserve the ReloCube, load and lock the container, travel to the new home, unlock and unpack the ReloCube, and relax. During this whole process, customers receive an upfront quote based on the number of containers they use and the space they take up on the truck. All gas, mileage, and other fees are included in the quote with nothing hidden and no additional fees about which to worry.
